The aim of the Leigh Seafood project was to promote cockles – an incredibly sustainable seafood that, in recent years, have lost their appeal.

Working again with Mindfully Wired, this campaign encouraged tourists to try local seafood. But it also sought to attract young people to the fishing industry – a profession that is suffering from a generation’s worth of apathy.

The brief was to create bold illustrations that reflected the history of Leigh-on-Sea. As an artist predominately using watercolours I really enjoyed working with gouache, as it was perfect for creating these nostalgic images.
